Taka is a money tracker. It never moves money and never asks for a bank or mobile wallet PIN, OTP or password. This page says what happens to what you enter.

What stays on this phone

Your accounts, entries, budgets, savings, loans and notes are stored only on this phone, encrypted with a key kept in the phone's secure hardware. There is no Taka app account or server, no ads, no analytics and no crash reports.

What leaves the phone

• Google Drive backup, only if you turn it on: it is encrypted with your passphrase before upload and goes to a hidden folder in your own Drive. Google keeps it on its servers, which may be outside Bangladesh.
• Updates and rates: the app downloads new versions and bank rates from GitHub. GitHub sees your internet address, as any website does; nothing about your money is sent.
• Files you export or share: you choose where they go.

Permissions

Notifications (reminders), fingerprint (unlock), internet (updates, rates, Drive) and installing updates. Taka does not read your SMS, contacts, location, photos or other apps.

Your choices

You can see and change everything in the app, and export it (a backup file, or PDF and Excel reports). To erase it all from this phone, uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android settings. Drive backups can be removed in Google Drive under Settings, Manage apps.

Children

Taka is meant for adults. Anyone under 18 should use it with a parent or guardian.

Write to us on Taka's release page on GitHub (github.com/abdullah-al-faahim/taka-releases). If data from this app is ever exposed, we will say so there and in the app.

This website

This page is hosted on GitHub Pages. It has no cookies, analytics or trackers. GitHub sees your internet address when you visit, as any website host does, and the fonts load from Google Fonts.
